The Language Access Lab Launches to Advance Language Equity in Northeast Indiana

Fort Wayne, Indiana, February 24, 2025 — The Language Access Lab Inc. is excited to announce its official launch as a nonprofit dedicated to advancing language access and equity. With an initial focus on Allen County and Northeast Indiana, the Lab will provide training, advocacy, and resources to help organizations and interpreters better serve Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals.

Join us for a press conference on March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Greater Fort Wayne Inc., 200 E Main St #800, Fort Wayne, IN 46802.

This initiative, launched by Petra Solutions LLC, is partially supported by grants from The Allen County Department of Health and The St. Joseph Community Health Foundation to Petra Solutions LLC to:

● Train Interpreters – The Lab’s first program, The Community Interpreter® Training, includes Spanish and Burmese language coaching and supports interpreters across all languages in medical, educational, government, and social service settings. Registration is now open! Deadline: April 8.

● Support Healthcare & Social Services – The Lab’s online community hub offers technical assistance, best practices, and resources to organizations.

● Offer Language Proficiency Testing – Bilingual workers can access proficiency testing to ensure quality interpretation services.

● Train Administrators – Organizations can host staff presentations to develop strong language access plans and improve interpreter management.

"It takes an intentional, leadership-led village to close the language gap," said Irene Paxia, Executive Director. "Our community often lacks the resources to meet national language standards. Together, we’re building communities of practice that can learn from one another."
